The Okura Prestige Taipei Opens August 3rd

New Modern Luxury Hotel in the Heart of Taipei

(Tokyo, Japan – August 2nd, 2012) The Okura Prestige Taipei opens August 3rd as the newest addition to international luxury hotel group Okura Hotels & Resorts.

“We could not be prouder to introduce this new hotel, the second of our new ‘Okura Prestige’ properties”
Located in the Zhongshan district in central Taipei, Taiwan, the hotel exemplifies modern architecture with seven stories underground and 18 above ground. The upper floors offer breathtaking city and mountain views.

The hotel’s prime location provides easy access around Taipei. It is a 15-minute drive from the international airport and a five-minute walk to the metro station, only one stop from the Taipei Main Station. Business and leisure travelers alike can enjoy the area’s parks and gardens, high-end shopping, a variety of dining options and tourist attractions, including the Martyrs Shrine and Fine Arts Museum.

The Okura Prestige Taipei combines elegant oriental and occidental décor in its 208 extra-spacious guestrooms (about 470 square feet), with many modern amenities. The bathrooms are particularly luxurious: separate commode with shower toilet; separate shower area with rain shower and a television.

The hotel’s three dining options include Okura’s signature Japanese restaurant “Yamazato” and Cantonese restaurant “Toh-Ka-Lin.” On the ground floor, in addition to a lounge and bar, there is a bakery featuring the hotel’s baked goods. The health club provides state-of-the-art fitness equipment, a sauna, massage room and rooftop heated swimming pool with spacious sun deck.

“We could not be prouder to introduce this new hotel, the second of our new ‘Okura Prestige’ properties,” said Toshihiro Ogita, president and CEO, Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. “We hope our international guests will enjoy the top luxury we represent and the proximity to so many of Taipei’s key attractions.”

Okura Hotels & Resorts, established in 1978, is an international group of 25 hotels and resorts with 7,774 guest rooms (including The Okura Taipei Prestige) managed by Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. The company, founded in 1958, opened its flagship property, Hotel Okura Tokyo, in 1962. In 2010, it acquired the majority of shares of JAL Hotels Co., Ltd., which operates the Nikko Hotels International and Hotel JAL City hotel groups.
