    Marriott International bringt Autograph Collection nach Deutschland – Erstes Haus eröffnet 2013 in Berlin

      (Berlin, 08. März 2013) Marriott International eröffnet 2013 mit dem traditionsreichen Hotel am Steinplatz in Berlin erstmals ein Haus der Autograph Collection in Deutschland. Das Gebäude stammt aus dem Jahr 1907 und wurde erstmalig 1913 als Hotel in Betrieb genommen. Im Herbst 2013 soll es nach umfassenden Renovierungsarbeiten als Autograph Collection-Haus in neuem Glanz erstrahlen. Zusammen mit weiteren geplanten Neueröffnungen in Europa in diesem Jahr trägt das Hotel am Steinplatz dazu bei, das Portfolio der Marriott-Tochter auf 15 Häuser in Europa und über 40 weltweit zu vergrößern.

März 2013) Das Internationale Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) jedes Jahr vor der ITB Berlin ist wie eine Wettkampfarena für die CEO der großen Hotelketten: Zu beweisen ist, wer am schnellsten mehr neue Hotels baut bzw. deren Entwicklung verkünden kann. So auch in diesem Jahr. Nun wurde auf der sog. “Berlin Conference” verkündet, dass die geplanten Ikea Hotels – wir berichteten – unter dem Drei-Sterne-Hotelkonzept Moxy starten sollen. Marriott International will mit Moxy-Entwickler Inter Hospitality, eine Ikea-Tochtergesellschaft, das erste Komforthotel Anfang 2014 in Mailand eröffnen. Erster Franchise-Partner ist Nordic Hospitality. Natürlich verspricht man entsprechend starkes Wachstum – 150 neue Hotels in zehn europäischen Ländern seien geplant und einer “Eroberung” des europäischen Hotelmarktes. Die ersten Fotos vom Zimmerkonzept zeigen dazu Holzvertäfelungen rund um den TV-Flachbildschirm und enge Badezimmer. Die Eckpfeiler des Hoteldesign – “beruhigende neutrale Brauntöne” in Kombination mit natürlichen Materialien – sollen stylish wirken. Offenbar soll dies die Kernzielgruppe der sog. Millennials, junge Reisende, ansprechen. Mit diesem Gestaltungskonzept, “tollen Service” (O-Ton der Pressemitteilung) und möglichst niedrigen Preisen soll die Zielgruppe angesprochen werden. Dies erinnert durchaus an jüngste Auffrischungskuren bei Accor’s Supermarke Ibis.

          (Dubai, 27. Februar 2013) Das Guiness Buch der Weltrekorde hat es bestätigt: Das nun eröffnete JW Marriott Marquis Dubai ist mit 355 Metern das höchste Hotel weltweit. Der neue Wolkenkratzer in der Glitzermetropole am Arabischen Golf ist nur 26 Meter niedriger als das Empire State Building in New York. Es wurde von der Emirates Group erreichtet und steht unter der Leitung eines deutschstämmigen Hoteldirektors: Rupprecht Queitsch.

Nach Konzernangaben seien sogar knapp über 1.000 neue Hotels weltweit in Planung.

                            The Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index reported a 2.9-percent increase in August to 2,397 and is up 18.4 percent year-to-date 2012. The index ended 2011 at 2,025. Robert W.                             Courtyard by Marriott to Open First Hotel in Chile

                              Marriott International announced plans to open a new 200-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Santiago in the fourth quarter of 2014, under an agreement with Falabella Group, the largest retailer in South America, with operations in Chile, Argentina, Peru and Colombia.

                                  Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc. Acquires the Essex House Hotel – Iconic Asset in Central Park South will be Converted to the JW Marriott Brand

                                    Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: BEE) announced today that it has signed an agreement to purchase New York City’s Essex House Hotel from the Dubai Investment Group for a gross purchase price of approximately $362.3 million. The purchase price includes 509 hotel rooms, nine condominium units and significant hotel-level cash reserves. Net of the acquired cash reserves, the transaction equates to a purchase price of approximately $685,000 per unit, based on 518 total units. The transaction, which is subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, is expected to close on or before September 7, 2012.

                                      Marriott International gibt für Mitte 2013 die Eröffnung des Renaissance Kiew Hotel bekannt. Das 173-Zimmer-Haus geht aus dem historischen Leipzig Hotel in Kiew hervor, welches einer umfangreichen Renovierung und Erweiterung unterzogen wird. Das Renaissance Kiew ist das erste Haus des Marriott-Konzerns in der Ukraine. Geführt wird es im Rahmen eines Management-Vertrags mit dem Tochterunternehmen Grand Plaza.
